Angina

Treatment of sore throat without antibiotics

Almost all "traditional healers" and other non-professionals from medicine, when asked whether it is possible to cure a sore throat without antibiotics, boldly give a positive answer. But the problem here most often lies in the fact that they do not see much difference between classic angina and various colds. But angina is an inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsils, the cause of which always is an infection. But colds are often the consequences of hypothermia, autoimmune disorders, or a combination of unfavorable physical and mechanical factors, although the infectious component can also play a role here.

Therefore, if a cold can be cured in a few days simply with hot herbal tea with raspberries, honey and vitamins, then it is just not possible to cope with a full-fledged sore throat. Inflammation of the tonsils in most situations is caused by streptococci or staphylococci - these are bacteria that need antibiotics to effectively fight.

When can antibiotics be dispensed with?

Formally, sore throat without antibiotics can and should be cured if the cause of the development of pathology is not bacteria, but a viral or fungal infection. But this is not due to the presence of some miraculous folk remedy, but simply by the fact that antibiotics are effective only against the bacterial flora. Other classes of drugs are used to kill viruses and fungi.

Nevertheless, even with a bacterial origin of inflammation of the tonsils, there is a chance to get rid of this pathology without using antibiotics. But this will require on the very first day of the disease to take a whole range of therapeutic measures. Unfortunately, this does not always work out, especially since it is not often possible to detect a sore throat immediately after the onset of the disease. With a bacterial infection, the symptomatology develops gradually and clinically manifests itself on the second, or even on the third day of the disease. Therefore, a further description of how to cure a sore throat without antibiotics, we give, based on the assumption that you were able to notice the violation at a very early stage of development.

General recommendations

  • Immediately after the detection of sore throat, the patient should be transferred to strict bed rest.
  • Any contact with people around you should be limited. The patient is a source of infection, from infection of which it is necessary to protect, first of all, children, weakened adults, the elderly and pregnant women.
  • The room where the patient is located should be warm. In addition, the room must be ventilated 2-3 times a day.
  • The patient needs to switch to a diet consisting of warm soft foods. Food should not be fried, greasy, or spicy. This will reduce the risk of chemical, physical or mechanical injury to the mucosa.
  • The patient is advised to observe vocal rest - so it will save the throat from overstrain.
  • It is necessary to significantly increase the amount of fluid consumed by the patient. Drinking plenty of fluids will help you flush out toxins faster, and will also lower your body temperature somewhat.

It is better to quickly reduce body temperature with medication only when it exceeds 380C. And this is an indication for starting antibiotic therapy.

And it is better that the interval between rinses does not exceed 1 hour. If there are several solutions, it will be helpful to alternate their use. All of them have a pronounced disinfecting effect and are capable of destroying bacterial agents on the surface of the mucous membranes.

Oak bark

Oak bark is also a good antibacterial agent. This is due to the large amount of tannins. Here are some recipes for using this herbal preparation in adults:

  • You will need to take 2 parts of calendula, 3 parts of linden, 5 parts of oregano and 10 parts of oak bark. Stir the ingredients, pour 1 spoonful of the mixture with a glass of boiling water, and let the solution brew for 3-4 hours.

With the help of these decoctions and infusions of oak bark, gargle should be made. Let the liquid cool before the procedure and strain through cheesecloth.

Garlic

This product has a very high antibacterial activity. The reason for this is the large amount of phytoncides it contains. This is the name of specific substances that are of plant origin and are able to effectively suppress the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Garlic phytoncides have such a pronounced disinfecting effect that, if used quickly, then only with their help sore throat can be cured without antibiotics. Garlic is recommended for use in the following recipes:

  • Grind 100 g of garlic and place in a glass of water for a quarter of the day. Then warm up the liquid and use it to gargle.
  • Grind 8-10 garlic cloves, pour 50 g of vinegar into the resulting gruel and place in the refrigerator for half a day. Then put 1 tbsp there. honey and stir. The mixture should be taken orally, 1 small spoon three times a day.
  • Take 3 tablespoons of dry elderflower, add 10 crushed garlic teeth and 3 large spoons of honey to them. Pour half a liter of boiling water and leave warm for 3-4 hours. Then pass the resulting mass through cheesecloth and every hour take 50 ml of this liquid.
  • Pour 1-2 chopped garlic cloves into 1 cup of carrot juice. Drink this liquid 30 minutes before meals.
  • Chop 8-10 garlic cloves and place in a glass of boiling water. After the solution is infused for half an hour, drink the resulting garlic water every hour, a teaspoon.
  • Even the use of raw garlic will be helpful. Take one peeled clove in your mouth and squeeze it periodically with your teeth so that the juice is released. Phytoncides are volatile compounds and are able to independently reach the inflamed mucosa.

Aloe

This is another fairly well-known source of phytoncides. Exclusively with its help, angina will hardly be cured without antibiotics, but aloe will be an excellent addition to complex therapy.
  • Wash and finely chop 2-3 long aloe leaves. Pour the resulting half a glass of sugar and put it in a dark place for 3-4 days. Then add 1 tbsp there.vodka and insist for the same amount of time. Next, the solution must be drained and taken orally 1 tsp. before eating.
  • Wrap 3-4 sheets of aloe in paper and refrigerate for 7 days. Next, scroll the leaves in a meat grinder or blender, add half a liter of water and boil. Then let the solution cool, filter and use for rinsing.
  • Squeeze the juice out of the aloe leaves and add 20 ml of water for each tablespoon of the juice. Put a pinch of baking soda and 2-3 drops of iodine on 1 glass of liquid. Instead of water, you can use decoctions of medicinal herbs. The resulting solution is intended for throat rinsing.

In the absence of purulent deposits on the tonsils, you can use Lugol's solution or Ingalipt. After the appearance of pus, sore throat cannot be cured without antibiotics, so you should immediately switch to using these drugs.

Anti-inflammatory and pain relievers

First of all, here you can recommend using a wide range of ready-made products that can be purchased at the pharmacy:

  • Decatilene;
  • Septolet;
  • Neo-angina;
  • Cameton;
  • Faringosept;
  • Trahisan
  • Tantum Verde and others.

In addition, for the same purposes, it will be useful to carry out gargling with the use of various medicinal herbs. The most effective recipes that include antibiotic-free sore throat treatment are:

  • Take 1 tsp for 1 glass of boiling water. pharmacy chamomile and 2 tsp. linden flowers. Let the solution sit, strain through cheesecloth and gargle.
  • Pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over 5 tablespoons of horsetail. Let the solution infuse for 30-40 minutes. Then the liquid should be filtered and used for rinsing.
  • Put 2 tablespoons in 1 glass of boiling water. leaves of a raspberry bush. Let the liquid sit for 10-15 minutes and then filter the solution.
  • Take 1 cup of finely grated beets and pour 1 tablespoon into it. 6% vinegar. Let the mixture steep for 30-40 minutes, and then squeeze out the juice that is released, which should be used to gargle.
  • Boil 3 teaspoons of onion skins in 0.5 liter of water. Wait until the solution has cooled and strain through cheesecloth.
  • Washing with other decoctions and infusions of medicinal herbs will also be useful. As a basis, you can use chamomile, yarrow, coltsfoot, calendula, medicinal sage, St. John's wort, oregano, linden, horsetail, etc. Usually, to make a liquid for rinsing, you should take 1 tablespoon of dry phytopreparation for 1 glass of boiling water, brew, leave for 15 minutes and filter the resulting liquid through cheesecloth.

Inhalation

This is another rather convenient way of delivering medicinal substances to the inflamed mucous membrane - in the form of steam. In order to inhale, you should place a hot solution in a saucepan, cover your head with a towel and bend over the container. After that, begin to inhale the rising vapors with force. Inhalation can be carried out on the basis of:

  • diluted chlorophyllipt;
  • essential oils added to hot water;
  • a solution of soda with salt and iodine;
  • herbal infusions and decoctions;
  • "Zvezdochki" dissolved in water, etc.

Honey

This product contains a huge list of biologically active compounds, which together have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and immunostimulating effects. If honey is used quickly and correctly, then with its help, angina without antibiotics can be completely cured.

Important! Honey is a product that often causes individual intolerance reactions. Therefore, before use, you should make sure that the patient is not allergic to it.

  • Take equal amounts of honey and cream oils. Mix and dissolve in a water bath. Then add 1 pinch of baking soda for every 20 grams of honey. The mixture must be heated until foam forms, and then cooled and taken 2-3 times a day, 1 tsp.
  • Honey-based throat wash solution includes 1 tbsp. honey and 1 tbsp. 6% vinegar for 1 tbsp. warm water.
  • When taken internally, a mixture of honey and butter in milk will also be helpful. This remedy should be consumed in 1 tbsp. every 2-3 hours.

Warming therapy

This includes compresses and mustard plasters. Compresses on the throat at an early stage of angina will provide local vasodilation, which means increased blood flow in the affected area. This leads to intense flushing of toxins, and also stimulates the local immune response, helping to destroy infectious agents. But, if it was not possible to suppress the infection immediately, the patient was diagnosed with an incipient purulent sore throat and / or the body temperature increased to 380With or more, then the compresses should be canceled and antibiotic therapy should be started.

But the area of use of mustard plasters will be somewhat wider. Usually they are placed on the chest or back - this provides a general warming effect for the whole body through reflex interactions. In addition, hot foot baths with mustard powder are a good warming agent. The limitation for the use of these drugs is heart disease in adults, as well as a significant increase in body temperature.

General strengthening treatment

In addition to the above methods of therapy, one should not forget about the stimulation of internal defense mechanisms. In particular, agents that enhance the activity of the immune system can be successfully used. These are herbal preparations such as tincture of ginseng, eluterococcus and echinacea. Vitamin complexes also have an immunomodulatory effect, especially those that include vitamin C - one of the main catalysts of biochemical immune reactions. A large amount of this vitamin is found in natural products such as rose hips, apples, black currants, citrus fruits, sea buckthorn, etc.

Important! Remember that if the clinical manifestations of angina during the treatment with the above-described means and methods persist for more than 3 days, then it is necessary to consult a specialist and prescribe the correct antibiotic therapy.
