Angina

How to treat angina according to Dr. Komarovsky

Treatment of throat diseases will differ in the occurrence of tonsillitis and acute tonsillitis. When eliminating the anginal inflammatory process during lactation, special attention is required. The use of traditional medicine (treatment of a sore throat with herbs, cold) and the fight against sore throat at home are not always safe. Most often, people do not treat angina, as Dr. E.O. Komarovsky claims, but sore throat - acute tonsillitis. Only you can decide whether you should listen to the opinion of a famous doctor or determine your direction in the fight against angina.

What is angina

Angina in the understanding of a person, an ordinary man in the street, is a common disease, accompanied by redness and soreness of the throat. Dr. Komarovsky E.O., speaking about angina, claims that this is a rare terrible disease. What is the danger? Angina is caused by a virus (we are talking about the development of an acute respiratory infection in 99% of cases). The disease goes away within 5 - 7 days without complications (if the bacterial microflora is not connected). The recovered organism develops immunity to the virus. A different picture is observed when angina is caused by bacteria - streptococci and staphylococci.

Getting on the nasopharyngeal mucosa, the microbe causes acute inflammation of the tonsils - tonsillitis. Purulent sore throat often develops. Tonsillitis is also noted with a viral infection, but there are no purulent processes.

Komarovsky calls the main symptoms for purulent sore throat:

  • intense pain that worsens when swallowing;
  • red throat;
  • abscesses on the tonsils;
  • general weakness;
  • enlargement and soreness of the lymph nodes (cervical, behind the ear, submandibular);
  • increased body temperature.

Viral infections will be much easier. Accompanied by a runny nose. With bacterial angina, these symptoms are absent.

There are forms of sore throat:

  • catarrhal;
  • follicular;
  • lacunar;
  • necrotic;
  • herpetic.

The most common catarrhal sore throat. Without proper treatment, it goes into a lacunar form, which is much more complicated. A white bloom appears on the tonsils, the body temperature rises to 39 ° C and above.

Komarovsky, in his recommendations for the diagnosis of lacunar sore throat, draws attention to the fact that it is important not to confuse the manifestation of independent sore throat and the symptom of sore throat in diphtheria. For differential diagnosis, you should consult a doctor.

Lacunar angina responds well to treatment with antibiotics. Sometimes it is recommended to gargle with cool infusions or decoctions. It is believed that this helps to relieve puffiness and reduce pain. I would like to note, however, that such recommendations are unsafe. If the early throat has not been hardened (by constant consumption of cold food and drink), it is hardly worth experimenting during an illness. It is worth consulting with an otolaryngologist, otherwise a complication of the disease may occur.

Cold and sore throat

According to the famous doctor, sore throat is unlikely to occur when drinking cold water or ice cream. Cold foods can cause hypothermia of the unsecured throat and inflammation of the lymphoid tissue, but not sore throat.

Referring to Komarovsky, angina is provoked by the vital activity of streptococci. The aforementioned foods are not a source of infection. The exception is their preliminary contact with a person with streptococcal infection.

Dr. Komarovsky recommends eating ice cream as a remedy or sucking on a piece of frozen juice. It's up to you to decide if it's worth doing. But you probably shouldn't do this experiment with angina in children. Unconditional benefit will bring gradual hardening of the throat with ice cream, ice and cold drinks.

Important! Tempering should be done only for healthy people and with good health, and gradually - this is especially true for children.

Angina during lactation

You can get a sore throat at any time in your life. The lactation period is no exception. Moreover, the mother's body spends most of its energy on feeding the baby. What does Komarovsky advise in case of a sore throat during breastfeeding?

First, don't panic. Secondly, to determine whether it is sore throat or acute tonsillitis of a viral nature.

With an increase in body temperature, the only safe antipyretic agent will be paracetamol in dosage forms (tablets, syrups). You should drink a lot to maintain lactation and reduce intoxication. Gargling will bring temporary relief. Use lozenges Bronchicum, Falimint, Cameton. Discuss the use of antibiotics with a physician. In case of a viral infection, it is impractical, but only puts you in front of a choice - to feed the baby or not.

If there is an aggravation of the inflammatory anginal process, do not refuse to use antibiotics.

Groups of drugs that are acceptable for breastfeeding are used: macrolides (Azithromycin, Sumamed, Rovamycin), penicillins of the latest generation (Amoxiclav, Flemoxin), Cephalexin.

Before using antibacterial agents, read the instructions in detail and adhere to the dosage regimen. If possible, feed the baby with milk formulas during the treatment of sore throat, express milk to maintain lactation.

Attention! The use of tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones is prohibited, as they disrupt the work of the hematopoietic system in a child.

Treatment of angina according to Komarovsky

"Bacterial sore throat is treated with antibiotics, it cannot be dismissed," says Dr. Komarovsky about the treatment of sore throat. Not taken in time treatment will lead to serious complications: rheumatic heart disease, rheumatism of the joints, nephritis, cystitis.

After the transferred disease, it is necessary to conduct a laboratory study of urine, blood to detect pathological abnormalities. Banal tonsillitis or, more correctly, tonsillitis (of a cold nature) is easily treated. The situation is different in the treatment of sore throat itself. Komarovsky advises not to delay the use of medications in the treatment of angina, especially in children.

He recommends the use of penicillin antibiotics, the simplest and most effective. However, an incorrectly selected drug will provoke adaptation of the bacterium. You will have to use a stronger antimicrobial agent and increase the course of treatment. As a result, there will be disturbances in the intestinal tract (dyspeptic phenomena), allergies will appear, and the load on the liver and kidneys will increase.

Dr. Komarovsky, talking about sore throat, claims that one cannot be cured with one gargle and lozenges.

If relief has come, most likely you are treating ARVI, and not the sore throat itself. At the same time, clinical diagnosis of the disease is carried out. On the other hand, according to him, one should not rush to the use of antibiotics only with a reddening of the throat and some soreness. Let the body react for one to two days and turn on the body's defenses. The immune bodies of the tonsils will fight the infection, the secretion of T and B lymphocytes will increase. Now, if traditional medicine (gargling, washing the throat) does not bring relief, contact your doctor for advice.

Antibiotic-free treatment

As mentioned above, Komarovsky does not recommend treating purulent sore throat without antibiotics. Gargling and topical spraying provide temporary visible relief. Topical medications (lozenges, sucking tablets, sprays) are adjuvant therapy.

They do not inactivate bacteria.On the contrary, their thoughtless use leads to addiction of the pathogen and increased virulence.

Of course, it is not forbidden to gargle, use medicinal lozenges with an anesthetic. But it should be remembered that antibacterial agents form the basis of treatment for angina.

Without antibiotics, it is possible to cure "red throat" - acute non-suppurative tonsillitis, but not purulent sore throat.

In addition to the main drug treatment, it is necessary:

  1. Stick to bed rest. It is dangerous to carry a sore throat "on your feet", there is a risk of heart complications.
  2. Provide an abundant warm drink (teas, dried fruit compotes, rosehip decoctions, fruit drinks).
  3. Prepare an easy-to-eat, but nutritious meal. It is important to maintain the appetite and supply of nutrients to the diseased body.

At home, infusions and decoctions of medicinal herbs (chamomile, sage), soda and salt solutions are prepared. For rinsing, the temperature of the solution should be 40 - 50 °. It is advisable to gargle your throat after each meal or 5-6 times a day.

Be wary of the advice of traditional medicine, especially to warm the throat. With purulent sore throat, the condition will only worsen.

Is angina contagious? Komarovsky answers in the affirmative: yes, very much! Non-infectious sore throat is not diagnosed. Again, not to be confused with redness of the throat. Angina is represented by a complex of symptoms that arise as a result of the development of infectious diseases (diphtheria, scarlet fever, infectious mononucleosis).

Angina is an acute infectious disease with specific clinical signs and is caused by a specific specific pathogen. The only thing that will not get sick is when you eat cold food, drink or get your feet wet. It is necessary to add to these factors the source of the pathogen - a sick person and communicate with him. Only then, with a decrease in immunity, which is facilitated by hypothermia, and the pathogen gets in, you can get sore throat.
