Ear fat: how it appears and how to treat it

It is not so rare in recent years that people have painless subcutaneous formations, similar in appearance to the average density of tubercles. These are lipomas - seals of adipose tissue, which are popularly called "wen". It can appear anywhere: both on the head and on other parts of the body. Usually, the fat behind the ear is found unexpectedly - the auricle makes it almost invisible, and it does not cause anxiety. You should not be afraid of him, but also completely ignore him. Under favorable conditions, it tends to grow and then it can cause not only aesthetic problems.

Reasons for education

Modern medicine still does not give an unambiguous answer to the question of how a lipoma is formed behind the ear. She names only the main factors that can provoke this process, among them:

  • poor environmental situation;
  • violation of internal metabolic processes;
  • natural hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands;
  • genetic predisposition;
  • the consequence of an ear injury;
  • complications after cosmetic surgery;
  • a consequence of taking medications;
  • abuse of fatty foods, fast food;
  • prolonged hypothermia or overheating;
  • violation of basic rules of personal hygiene.

Also, a wen on the ear may be overgrown due to a violation of normal blood circulation or blockage of the sebaceous gland duct by a cyst - atheroma. She is a benign education and will not cause direct harm to health.

Possible complications

But nevertheless, you should definitely pay attention to the sebaceous tubercle. Firstly, if a wen appears behind the ear, the reasons clearly indicate some disturbances in the normal functioning of the body. And secondly, growing, it can squeeze the surrounding tissues and, thus, provoke inflammatory processes. In addition, a large wen does not look very beautiful, especially if the fat in the ear has accumulated from the visible side.

Most often, a wen on the ear can cause some problems if an infection has penetrated it. The main sign of inflammation is redness and soreness that appears, mainly on palpation.

If the process is not stopped early, pus may build up and feel like subcutaneous fluid. The body temperature may rise, head and ear pain may appear. In this case, you should definitely consult a doctor.

How to treat it

To quickly and effectively get rid of the problem, you need to understand that when wen appear behind the ear, the causes and treatment are interrelated. And if you do not normalize metabolic processes or the work of the sebaceous glands, then there is no guarantee that after a while the nasty bumps will not reappear in the same or another place. Therefore, it is still better to see a doctor and do the necessary tests. And after eliminating the main reason, throw all your strength into removing the symptoms, that is, the wen itself.

If you have a large wen behind the ear, only a doctor will tell you how to get rid of it in a reliable and safe way. Most likely, you will have to resort to hardware procedures or surgical removal. Today, there are three most effective methods to quickly solve the problem:

  • Electrocoagulation - the destruction of adipose tissue under the influence of a weak electric current.
  • Laser removal - burning out the subcutaneous fat layer using a narrowly focused laser beam.
  • Traditional removal is through an incision in the skin made with a conventional or laser scalpel.

All these methods are not painful, are carried out under local anesthesia, take no more than 15-20 minutes and do not require a long rehabilitation period. But any procedure should be performed by an experienced specialist in compliance with sterility and safety precautions.

Traditional methods

When a small wen has formed behind the ear, treatment with radical methods may not be needed. It is worth trying to use the proven methods of traditional medicine. After all, cosmetic equipment and laser scalpels appeared recently, but wen always existed, and our grandmothers also somehow coped with them.

Here are some of the most popular ways to treat a wen on the head at home:

  1. Indian onion. Grind the stem of Indian onions together with the root with a meat grinder or chop and crush in a mortar. Pour the resulting gruel with half a glass of vodka and let it brew in a dark place for 2 weeks. Smear a wen with infusion 2-3 times a day. It will disappear in a couple of weeks.
  2. Silver. Most often, this method is used to treat wen in children. It is necessary to rub it several times a day with a silver spoon or a silver cross. If you do this every day, then after a month the small formation disappears.
  3. Black pepper. Soak a small gauze cloth with medical or boric alcohol. Sprinkle black pepper on it with an even layer (1 tsp). Apply a compress on a wen for 15 minutes. Do it in the morning and in the evening for 7-10 days.
  4. Garlic. Mix a tablespoon of melted lard with a teaspoon of crushed garlic. Apply the mixture to the wen 3-5 times a day for at least 2 weeks.
  5. Iodine with vinegar. Dilute iodine in half with vinegar and treat the wen three times a day with this solution for 2-3 weeks.

If we discard the bactericidal effect of silver, in principle, it all boils down to the fact that the wen is "burned out" by severe irritation of the skin. These methods must be applied with caution and certainly not with children. There is a fairly high probability of getting an elementary burn and severe skin irritation. In addition, none of the methods listed above gives any guarantees.

To experiment with your own body or not - everyone decides for himself. We strongly advise against doing this. Moreover, even if the formation dissolves, the capsule will remain under the skin and, under favorable conditions, the accumulation will reappear.

If the wen is inflamed, Vishnevsky ointment, which can be bought at any pharmacy, will help get rid of it. But you need to apply it constantly, changing the compresses every 8 hours until the abscess opens.

After opening and releasing the contents, it is imperative to treat the wound with an antiseptic and cover it with a plaster to prevent infection. In case of any doubts and pains, immediately consult a doctor!
