Vodka for sore throat

Vodka is a fairly common product that everyone uses at their own discretion: in the form of an alcoholic drink, antiseptic and anesthetic. On its basis, tinctures, compresses, extracts are prepared.

The right to choose the method and means of treating a sore throat belongs to the sick person. From folk remedies, vodka is often used for a sore throat - how to properly treat the disease, some rules will tell you.

Vodka and its use

There are diametrically opposed points of view regarding the use of vodka as a remedy for sore throat. Fans of "grandmother's" remedies should remember some generally accepted rules for conducting medical procedures, and supporters of traditional medicine should not so categorically reject folk remedies. The only correct decision would be an objective assessment of the state of health at the time of illness and the adoption of the optimal type of treatment, preferably complex.

Vodka is used as an aid to alternative therapy in the form of:

  • rinses;
  • compresses;
  • vodka tinctures for oral administration.

Important! The use of vodka as a remedy in the form of rinses, compresses or a remedy for internal use should in no case replace the main type of treatment.

How to rinse properly

The essence of rinsing is to reduce painful sensations and moisturize the mucous membrane. When rinsing, the surface of the oral mucosa and tonsils is cleaned from pathogenic microflora.

In this case, the choice of a means is not fundamental, be it a soda-salt solution, vodka, or an antibacterial drug. Their action is superficial. No agent penetrates deep into the tissues and does not eliminate the source of infection, especially bacterial.

The maximum effect is temporary relief and psychological calming from the performance of medical manipulations. But if there is an opportunity to carry them out, then you should not refuse them.

Fundamental rules:

  1. The procedure is performed several times a day (4-5 times) or after each meal.
  2. Rinsing power is moderate. Intense rinsing only irritates the tonsils and prevents tissue regeneration.
  3. The duration of therapy depends on the presence of pain. Treatment continues until the pain disappears.
  4. The procedure lasts from 30 seconds to 1-2 minutes, at the discretion and feelings of the patient.
  5. The temperature of the solution is room or warm, but not more than 50 ° C.

For rinsing, use vodka 40 °, diluted 1/3 with boiled water. Dilution is necessary to prevent injury to an already overdried and inflamed mucosa.

Vodka and recipes

It is not recommended to use vodka in its pure form due to a burn of the mucous membrane. An effective folk remedy, according to some patients, is gargling a sore throat with a mixture of vodka and tea tree oil. Dissolve 5 drops of oil in 1 teaspoon of vodka. Pour the resulting mixture into a glass of boiled water and use as a rinse.

At the first painful signs, to prevent the development of a pathological process, rub the tonsils with a tampon (bandage) dipped in 40 ° vodka. The procedure is carried out 2-3 times, carefully, without damaging the mucous membrane.

The vodka tincture of propolis, which is used both in the form of rinsing and inside, has earned popular approval. The effect of it is slightly higher than that of drinking pure vodka. Take 20-30 drops before meals or half an hour after meals.

When rinsing, the tincture is diluted 1/3 with boiled water. A freshly prepared solution should be used each time. The procedure is repeated 3-4 times a day until the sore throat disappears. For sore throat, vodka is used as a warming vodka compress on the neck.

If there is no improvement in the condition within 1-2 days, you should consult a doctor and stop self-medication with vodka. The use of antibacterial agents is often necessary. Otherwise, the likelihood of developing purulent inflammation and complications is high.

Moreover, one should objectively assess the state of the sick organism at the time of the onset of painful symptoms and determine whether it is necessary to give preference to the use of vodka over the traditional drug treatment.

Important! Combining treatment with medicines and vodka is unacceptable. This will inevitably lead to side effects and cause allergic reactions. Do not expect a miraculous effect from vodka treatment.

There is an opinion that the use of store-bought vodka inside with the addition of black pepper or homemade, made with herbs, heals throat ailments. The fact is quite controversial, since the body is already struggling with the phenomena of intoxication, to which the effect of alcohol is added, albeit in small doses. In addition, the use of pure vodka burns the healthy tissues of the oral cavity, not to mention that it has a traumatic effect on the inflamed mucosa.

Contraindications and features

Vodka should be used with caution as a treatment:

  • hypertensive patients;
  • persons under the age of 18;
  • pregnant and lactating women;
  • people with sore throats, accompanied by an increase in body temperature.

It may be worth replacing this remedy with taking other homeopathic remedies after consulting an otolaryngologist.

Important! Do not limit yourself to using vodka as the main treatment, especially when the disease progresses.

When using vodka treatment, it is necessary to take into account the mode of life. This method of eliminating a sore throat limits the ability to freely use transport and other mechanical means, due to disruption of the vestibular apparatus and a decrease in the psychophysiological reactivity of the body.
