Herbs for throat treatment

In the treatment of throat pathologies with folk methods, phytopreparations are the leading way to relieve symptoms. Official medicine also recommends the use of medicinal herbs, since in many specific compounds have been found that have a beneficial effect for the body.

Herbs for the treatment of throat in the vast majority of cases are used in the form of decoctions or infusions. There is one general rule for the preparation of such solutions: before use, the liquid must be cooled to room temperature and filtered with gauze. It is advisable to let the infusion cool down on its own - this will help to remove the maximum amount of medicinal substances into the solution. Compliance with this rule will ensure the highest effectiveness of herbal treatment and protect the sore throat from irritation by high temperatures. And filtering the liquid will remove solid fractions, which will protect the mucous membrane from mechanical damage.

It is recommended to treat the throat with herbal infusions and decoctions in several ways. These are mainly rinses. When the pharynx is flushed, medicinal compounds are deposited directly on the mucous membrane. It is necessary to rinse 5-6 times a day, and ideally, pauses between procedures should be no more than 1 hour. If you have several types of solutions, alternate them, as this increases the therapeutic effectiveness.

The second method of using medicinal herbs is inhalation. In this case, the active substances enter the throat mucosa in the form of vapor vapors. It is not necessary to cool the solution here, on the contrary, it should be extremely hot, since it will not enter the patient's body by itself. It must be poured into a container with a wide top, bend over it, cover with a towel, and then begin to intensively inhale the vapors rising above the container through the mouth. Inhalation is recommended to be produced with almost all medicinal herbs and fees that are used for rinsing.

Important! The shelf life of herbal solutions for rinsing and inhalation is 1 day. The next day, you need to prepare a new portion.

The third way to use phytopreparations is ingestion. Such an introduction combines two therapeutic procedures at once: medicinal substances pass through the throat, settling on the mucous membrane, and then absorbed in the stomach, exerting a systemic effect on the entire patient's body. When taken orally, the dosage of the prescription must be followed exactly. An excess of the concentration of active substances in the body leads to undesirable consequences even when using relatively mild herbal remedies.

Finally, herbal compresses are sometimes used for sore throat. For example, warming and anesthetic dressings with aloe, honey, or agave juice mixed with ethanol diluted with water are helpful. Remember that at temperatures above 38 C and / or purulent discharge on the tonsils, any compresses are contraindicated.
