Use of Cardiomagnet during pregnancy in different trimesters

Use of the drug for 1, 2, 3 trimesters: indications and treatment regimens

Cardiomagnyl tablets contain two active components - acetylsalicylic acid and magnesium in the form of hydroxide. The first substance is basic. Aspirin belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (or non-narcotic pain relievers). It also has antiplatelet properties. By inhibiting the formation of thromboplastin, it disrupts the adhesion of platelets - platelets. This leads to a stop of hemostasis. It also improves microcirculation in small arterioles, veins and capillaries.

The second ingredient is magnesium hydroxide. This substance plays an auxiliary role. Its function is to protect the gastric mucosa from the ulcerogenic action of aspirin. That is, it prevents the formation of peptic ulcers - a very common complication with prolonged use of acetylsalicylic acid.

Indications for pregnancy

Despite the fact that aspirin has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties, its dosage in Cardiomagnum is capable of performing only one function - antiplatelet. Thus, it is prescribed when there is a risk of pathological thrombus formation. It makes no sense to take a remedy for fever or headache, since it will not give the desired effect.

The process of carrying a child is associated with the risk of thrombosis. Varicose veins are considered one of the most common complications. According to statistics, it occurs in half of all pregnant women. This is due to the compression of the vessels by the uterus and an increase in the volume of circulating blood. It is characterized by a significant slowdown in blood flow, which creates favorable conditions for the formation of a clot.

Also, during pregnancy, the composition of the blood changes significantly - it becomes more viscous, the risk of activation of coagulation processes increases. This is primarily due to an increase in the concentration of fibrinogen. In order not to miss hypercoagulability, the pregnant woman needs to do blood tests. A coagulogram will show an excess of this protein, an increase in the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)

In addition, changes in hormonal levels affect increased blood coagulation. During pregnancy, the concentration of progesterone increases sharply. It helps to relax the walls of blood vessels, because of which the latter expand and create conditions for stagnation.

If analyzes and other examinations confirm the presence of these pathological situations in the expectant mother, the doctor prescribes Cardiomagnet for her.

Another specific indication is placental insufficiency - a condition in which the normal functioning of the placenta is disrupted due to microcirculation disorders. Cardiomagnet in this case is taken as part of complex therapy.

In addition, it can also be used for pathologies of the cardiovascular system unrelated to pregnancy:

  • thrombophilia - a genetic predisposition to increased blood clot formation;
  • heart rhythm disturbances (atrial fibrillation);
  • ischemic heart disease (angina pectoris);
  • high blood pressure (hypertension);
  • myocardial hypertrophy;
  • surgical interventions on the heart and blood vessels;
  • the presence of artificial implants (stents, pacemakers, etc.)

In each case, the doctor must consider the individual characteristics, take into account the balance of benefits and possible harm, and also study the options for using alternative drugs.

First trimester use

This period is considered the most dangerous for the fetus in terms of the consequences of drug use. At this time, the laying of all the main systems of the body takes place, and any external influences can disrupt this process. Clinical studies indicate the presence of a teratogenic effect in acetylsalicylic acid, therefore Cardiomagnyl in the 1st trimester is not recommended for admission. The most dangerous complication is the termination of pregnancy due to detachment of the ovum, which is provoked by bleeding caused by aspirin.

Second trimester

This period is considered the most favorable for the appointment of Cardiomagnyl to pregnant women. Nevertheless, the risks of side effects remain for both the mother and the child. Therefore, the doctor prescribes the drug only when the potential benefit will significantly outweigh the risk of complications.

It is recommended to limit yourself to the minimum dosage. It is 1 tablet (75 mg of aspirin) per day (or half, if it is Cardiomagnet Forte). The drug is taken after meals with water. The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the doctor.

Third trimester

The use of this drug in the last stage of pregnancy can lead to the development of uterine bleeding and disruption of labor, which is associated with its antiplatelet effect. The maximum period for which the use of Cardiomagnyl is still allowed for strict indications is 36 weeks, but it is advisable to cancel it already three months before the expected birth.

Contraindications

If there is a need to take Cardiomagnet during pregnancy, you should pay attention to strict contraindications to its appointment:

  • individual intolerance to the ingredients of the tablet (including other NSAIDs);
  • stomach and / or duodenal ulcer during an exacerbation;
  • chronic kidney failure;
  • pathologies with an increased tendency to bleeding (hemophilia, thrombocytopenic purpura, hemorrhagic vasculitis);
  • concomitant use of other antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants or non-narcotic pain relievers.

It is also necessary to stop taking the medication at least 3-4 days before the planned surgery.

Side effects

The following side effects are characteristic of Cardiomagnyl:

  • bleeding from the nose, gums, gastrointestinal tract;
  • a decrease in the content of red blood cells and hemoglobin (anemia);
  • drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia);
  • headache, sleep disorders;
  • heartburn, nausea, vomiting;
  • bronchospasm (especially in patients with asthma).

If you find these symptoms in yourself, you should stop taking the medication and consult a specialist.

Cardiomagnet when planning pregnancy: when you need it and why

The state of the blood coagulation system is important not only for the normal development of the fetus, but also for successful conception. An increased tendency to thrombosis causes disturbances in the blood supply to the uterus, ovaries and other reproductive organs. It can cause many obstetric complications, including miscarriages and stillbirth.

Therefore, when planning conception, it is necessary to do the appropriate tests: blood clotting time, international normalized ratio (MHR), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), coagulogram. If at the same time the doctor reveals any violations on the part of hemostasis, he may prescribe a maintenance dose of Cardiomagnyl.

The drug is also prescribed during pregnancy planning in the presence of certain cardiovascular pathologies. Taking it during this period is very important, since it is necessary to stabilize the state of the body as much as possible for the first trimester, when the use of aspirin will be prohibited.

The dosage is also kept at the minimum maintenance level - 75 mg / day.

It is advisable to cancel the medication a few weeks before conception, because it affects the development of the embryo from the very first days.

Conclusions

Cardiomagnet for pregnant women is allowed with an increased tendency to thrombosis, as well as in the presence of some other diseases. The doctor must carefully assess the balance of benefits and possible risks when prescribing the drug. It is prohibited to take it in the 1st and 3rd trimesters. It is recommended to use it in the planning and preparation for conception, in order to normalize the hemostasis system in patients with diagnosed abnormalities.
