Angina

Angina - how to smear your throat?

One of the main signs of a sore throat is pain and irritation in the throat, making it difficult to swallow and speak, and sometimes even interfere with normal breathing. Topical treatment in the form of ointments applied by direct contact or with a spray can deal with these symptoms fairly quickly and effectively. But it must be remembered that such influences can defeat angina only at the earliest stage of its development. If the pathological process already demonstrates a full-scale clinical picture, then the basis of treatment in this case should be antibiotics used as prescribed by a doctor. Nevertheless, various ointments, even in such a situation, will be a good means of additional therapy and alleviating the patient's condition.

Chlorophyllipt

This substance is also called "herbal antibiotic". Strictly speaking, chlorophyllipt does not belong to the pharmacological class of antibiotics, but it has a rather pronounced antimicrobial activity. This medicine is obtained from eucalyptus - it is an extract from the leaves of this tree, which also owes its characteristic smell.

It is possible to lubricate the throat with chlorophyllipt with angina directly using its 2% oil solution. An alcoholic solution of this drug should be used with greater caution, since there is a risk of getting a chemical burn of the laryngeal mucosa. It is also convenient to lubricate the throat with a chlorophyllip spray sprayed as deep as possible into the pharyngeal cavity. Finally, this medicine is also produced in the form of sucking tablets - when using them, chlorophyllipt also lubricates inflamed tonsils quite well.

Ingalipt

This drug for lubricating the throat for angina has been used in medicine for over 40 years. But so far it has not lost its relevance in the treatment of inflammatory pathologies of the larynx of infectious origin.

Important! Ingalipt is contraindicated for use in children under the age of 3 years!

The popularity of this drug is due to the fact that it is a whole complex of medicinal substances and is able to quite effectively suppress the development of a very large number of pathogenic bacteria. In some cases, its isolated use can stop a sore throat even at the stage of the appearance of purulent discharge. Ingalipt includes:

  • streptocide - a substance from the sulfonamides group with a pronounced antimicrobial activity;
  • sulfathiazole, also related to sulfonamides and enhancing the therapeutic effect of streptocide;
  • glycerol, which is the basis of Ingalipt and provides a softening and mild anti-inflammatory effect on the pharyngeal mucosa;
  • eucalyptus leaf oil - an antimicrobial herbal preparation, which also has a weak anesthetic and antitussive effect;
  • thymol, derived from thyme or thyme, which is also a herbal antiseptic;
  • peppermint oil, extracted from peppermint, has an analgesic effect, as well as the ability to relieve spasm of the muscles of the larynx and reduce the intensity of cough.

Iodine solution and lugol

Both of these drugs have a pronounced antiseptic effect. For angina with a purulent component, it is better to use an iodine solution, since in its composition, unlike Lugol, glycerol is absent. It is a viscous compound that can clog the lacunae in the tonsils, making it difficult for pus to pass out.

It must be remembered that using a pure iodine solution with alcohol to lubricate the throat is quite painful. An intense burning sensation and other unpleasant sensations occur in the pharynx. In order to keep them to a minimum, you can use a liquid that contains water, baking soda and iodine in equal proportions.

Lugol's solution is a more gentle remedy that is successfully used in the treatment of angina, even in children. Its components are:

  • molecular iodine is the main active compound with an antiseptic effect;
  • distilled water - the basis for the preparation of the solution;
  • potassium iodide - a means for better dissolution of iodine;
  • glycerol - to provide a softening effect;

Propolis

Propolis is a viscous substance used by bees to build honeycombs. Its use in medicine and, in particular, in the treatment of angina, is due to the fact that it has a pronounced disinfecting activity.

Important! Propolis is a product with a high risk of provoking allergic reactions. Please make sure there is no allergy in the patient before use, and do not use it in children under 1 year old.

Propolis ointment to lubricate the throat with angina is prepared in two ways. The first involves only mixing the same amount of propolis and glycerin, after which you can start treatment. The second option is a mixture of propolis and petroleum jelly, which should be heated in a water bath for 30 minutes. Then, after filtering the resulting liquid, pour it hot into a tinted glass container. Keep this ointment in the refrigerator.

Lubricating the throat with angina is also useful with propolis oil. For 1 part of propolis, take 9 parts of butter. Heat this mixture in a water bath until the ingredients are completely dissolved. Cover the pot with a lid to prevent volatile fractions from evaporating. Then strain the mixture, pour it into a shaded glass dish and refrigerate.

Brilliant green

The question of the advisability of lubricating the throat with sore throat with brilliant green is still being discussed. Yes, this drug has a pronounced antiseptic effect, but it interacts extremely aggressively with the mucous membrane - using brilliant green, you are guaranteed to irritate the tissues of the larynx. Moreover, even the instructions for this substance always indicate that only the outer skin can be smeared with brilliant green. This medication is for external use only.

You also need to remember that smearing the throat with green stuff with sore throat dries out the mucous membrane very much - this drug is prepared on the basis of ethanol and has a strong hygroscopic effect. So, despite the fact that brilliant green is an excellent disinfectant, its use is not recommended in this case. The positive antimicrobial effect of lubricating the larynx with brilliant green is completely neutralized by its damaging effect on the mucous membrane.

Other ointments

Important! The effect of these drugs for angina is less pronounced than from the above drugs, but they are milder. This allows you to safely use them in childhood.

  1. Take the fresh juice of one pomegranate and mash the cleanly washed peel of this fruit with the addition of 3 tablespoons in it. honey. The resulting ointment can be used immediately after preparation.
  2. Squeeze the juice from 1 large and ripe lemon, thoroughly washed beforehand. Then separate the zest from the pulp and chop. Mix it with juice by putting 3 tablespoons in the solution. light honey. This tool is suitable not only for applying directly to the inflamed mucous membrane and tonsils, but also for eating.
  3. Pour the dry lilac flowers with vodka and leave them for 1 night. Then filter the solution and lubricate the larynx with a few drops twice a day.
  4. You can also use any essential oils - fir, lavender and others. Before use, dilute such a substance with an oil that does not contain essential components (for example, olive oil).

Features of the procedure

To lubricate the throat with sore throat, you can use your own finger. Make a tampon at its end from a bandage wound in a couple of dozen layers and secure it. Saturate the tampon with the solution, insert your hand as deep as possible into the mouth cavity and try to smear so as to completely cover the pharynx and tonsils with the preparation.

You can achieve greater comfort in this procedure if you use tweezers, a pencil or any other hard and elongated object of small diameter. At its end, in the same way, a swab of gauze or bandage should be made, which then must be dipped into the solution and inserted into the larynx.

Important! It is not recommended to use cotton wool for making a tampon. Its fibers, easily separated from the main mass, can remain on the inflamed tonsils - this will only contribute to increased inflammation.

When self-processing the mucous membranes in the throat, it will be convenient to use a mirror. Also, find a light source that will focus on the lower part of your face. This will allow you to visually control the entire lubrication process and make it more efficient. In particular, this significantly reduces the risk of touching the back of the pharynx with a tampon, which can lead to uncontrolled vomiting (especially in childhood).

Laryngeal lubrication can also be performed indirectly. An example of this is the use of sprays or sucking tablets. But you can use this technique with any other ointments - you need to soak a cotton swab with them, put it in your mouth and suck for a while.

Medicine sprays, tablets, or cotton swabs are more convenient to use. But keep in mind that in this case, the effectiveness of therapy decreases. If you want to achieve better results, we recommend that you directly smear the tonsils, ensuring their contact with a tampon soaked in the active substance. In this way, the whole preparation and with high precision will get exactly to the place where it should exert its effect.

On average, the lubrication procedure must be repeated 3 to 5 times a day, regardless of what kind of drug you are using.
