Ear diseases

Pimples on the earlobes

A pimple on the earlobe is often not visually detectable even with the help of a mirror. The occurrence of a focus of inflammation can only be judged by a local increase in temperature and unpleasant or painful sensations. To find out why acne appears on the earlobe, and how to deal with this phenomenon, you can learn from this article.

Causes of the appearance of rashes

The type of treatment (conservative or operative) and its duration depend on the identification of the causes. In addition, knowing the causes will help prevent recurrence of the disease.

Violation of hygiene rules and damage to the skin

Doctors do not recommend touching the face in general and ears in particular with unwashed hands, especially in the summer. At the same time, the habit of many people is to fiddle with their ears, scratch them with their fingers. The tradition of picking one's ears with various improvised objects - a pencil, a match, a toothpick or a hairpin - deserves a separate mention. At the same time, numerous microbes contained on hands and objects enter the pores and microdamages of the skin, causing an inflammatory process.

In addition, if acne suddenly appears on the earlobe, the reasons may be as follows:

  • using someone else's or uncleaned own items (hat, headphones, mobile phone, jewelry);
  • piercing earlobes for wearing jewelry;
  • irregular washing of the face, including the auricles;
  • dirty hair;
  • soil or sand hitting a vegetable garden or beach.

Unwashed oily hair is an excellent breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria, and their constant contact with the auditory organs can lead to inflammation of certain areas of the skin.

Cold

Pimples on the earlobes, resulting from a sharp change in temperature, can be especially unpleasant, since they tend to develop into furunculosis. Leaving a warm room in the cold without a hat can dramatically change the temperature of the ear surface and lead to a cold. When entering a highly air-conditioned room from the summer heat or when staying in drafts, the result is the same. The result of a cold can be otitis media, rashes and inflammation of individual pores. Rashes can also occur with a general malaise of the body, such as ARVI or flu.

More than others, adolescents and young people are susceptible to colds of hearing organs. This is due to growth processes: increased release of leukocytes and open sebaceous glands. At the same time, young people, due to their age, often do not pay special attention to some pimple on the earlobe, do not carry out treatment, which is why the disease has time to develop, and sometimes even become a companion of a young man for many years.

Hormonal Disorders

With hormonal imbalance, acne and rashes appear on different parts of the body (primarily on the face). The hormonal background of a person undergoes changes throughout life under the influence of many factors:

  • the formation of the hormonal system in adolescents;
  • pregnancy;
  • female cyclical and age-related changes (menstruation, menopause);
  • disruption of the endocrine system (pituitary gland, thyroid gland).

And if in the first three cases, most often there will be enough simple preventive and cosmetic measures, then with an imbalance of the endocrine system, the intervention of a specialist is indispensable.

Stress and allergies

The number of allergens affecting the body is growing every year. These are pollen of various plants during the flowering period, pet hair, ordinary dust, certain medicines and cosmetic preparations, food. As a rule, such rashes are accompanied by itching and appear in groups. In case of an allergic nature of the appearance of a rash, you should take some antihistamine and consult an allergist to identify the allergen and prescribe systematic treatment.

Numerous stresses at school (university), at work and at home contribute to skin rashes. Lack of sleep, irritation, nerves affect the condition of the skin of the body, and ears are no exception.

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and unhealthy diet

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract affect the entire body and can manifest themselves outwardly in the most unexpected places. Ulcerative diseases, acute and chronic colitis, gastritis, dysbacteriosis can provoke constant sluggish inflammatory processes in different parts of the body. Sometimes they worsen and become visible on the surface of the skin.

Excessive consumption of sweet, flour, fatty, spicy foods, conservation makes the skin exposed to various bacteria, which is accompanied by the appearance of a rash.

Treatment: medical and folk

Traditional ways

Often, eruptions on the ears appear and disappear on their own, without human intervention. However, in any case, the process should be monitored. If the disease is started or if you try to cure it with the wrong methods, then deep tissue damage, infection and the appearance of unattractive scars are possible.

To begin with, you should carefully examine the affected area with a mirror and gently touch it with cleanly washed hands. In the case when you cannot see the problem yourself, you can ask someone from your family to help. The initial inspection should make it clear what action should be taken.

If the pimple is close to the surface of the skin, painful and red, then you can try to get by with disinfectants. For this, the following are suitable:

  • iodine;
  • alcohol;
  • zinc paste;
  • tar soap;
  • diferin;
  • hydrogen peroxide;
  • chlohexidine.

In no case should you squeeze out a problem pimple. This is painful and can only worsen the situation, lead to the appearance of a boil and even to blood poisoning. Constantly disinfecting, you need to wait for the pimple to fully ripen, after which it will open naturally. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs, and use Vishnevsky's ointment to break through pus. If within a few days (up to a week) the condition does not improve, it is better to consult a dermatologist.

The case when an internal pimple appears on the earlobe should be treated with increased attention, since this may be a symptom of atheroma. Such subcutaneous inflammation often develops into a dangerous purulent abscess. Atheroma can only be treated with surgery.

You can suspect a danger after probing the formation. If the lump is soft, superficial and not painful, then it is worth trying to treat it with the usual methods. In the case when the neoplasm is deep and has a dense structure, you should urgently consult a dermatologist, ENT or surgeon.

Folk remedies

It is worth using traditional medicine only with fairly simple and uncomplicated manifestations as an alternative to traditional treatment or in combination with it. Here are some proven recipes:

  • Aloe or callanchoe juice compress. The leaf of the plant is kneaded and attached with a plaster. You can keep the compress for a couple of hours or all night.
  • Means based on a decoction of celandine, chamomile or plantain. Dried herb (2 tablespoons) is poured with 200 ml of boiling water and insisted for at least 30 minutes. A napkin moistened with infusion is applied to the affected area.
  • Applying gruel from onions, garlic or wheat germ.

In general, after treating inflammation, you need to pay special attention to personal hygiene, regularly wash your ears and hair, do not touch your ears with dirty hands and do not use other people's things without first disinfecting them.
