How to cure pharyngitis in a child with folk remedies

The inflammation that develops on the mucous membrane and in the lymphoid tissues of the pharynx is called pharyngitis. The disease most often does not pose a threat to life, therefore it does not require hospitalization, and treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis. That is why parents need to know what are the main signs of the disease, its characteristic symptoms, and also understand how to treat pharyngitis in children at home in order to avoid complications. Most often, inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa in childhood occurs due to exposure to the body of pathogenic microorganisms or as a result of severe hypothermia.

Treatment features

Since sore throat can be infectious and non-infectious in nature, it is necessary to treat pharyngitis in children in various ways. So with the non-infectious nature of the disease, it is possible to cure pharyngitis in children at home using exclusively the methods of traditional medicine. Whereas with infectious pharyngitis, as a rule, complex treatment with the use of drugs is required.

The nature of pharyngitis is indicated by the causes of inflammation. So, if a sore throat, perspiration, dry cough, a feeling of a foreign object in the pharynx arose as a result of exposure to pungent odors, the use of too cold or hot food or drinks, then this indicates the non-infectious nature of the disease. If the inflammation has developed under the influence of viruses or bacteria and is accompanied by fever, runny nose, enlargement of the cervical lymph nodes, then most often this indicates the infectious nature of the disease.

Important! Any form of pharyngitis in the absence of timely and effective treatment is dangerous by the development of serious complications (otitis media, bronchitis), as well as the transition of the disease into a chronic form.

Pharyngitis treatment most often involves the elimination of the main symptoms, as well as the causes of the disease.

  • If it is known that a virus (influenza, parainfluenza or herpes) is the cause of the disease, then it is recommended to use antiviral drugs (Laferobion, Arbidol, Remantadin, Anaferon), which will accelerate recovery and reduce the risk of complications.
  • Provided that a blood test and a bacterial culture of a throat swab taken from a patient revealed the presence of a bacterial infection, then in this case, antibacterial drugs (Sumamed, Augmentin) are used in the treatment of the disease.
  • To reduce pain in the nasopharynx, antiseptic preparations are used in the form of sprays, lozenges, lozenges and lozenges (Septefril, Lizobakt, Ingalipt, Chlorophyllipt).

Important! When choosing an antiseptic for the throat, it is necessary to take into account not only the age of the child, but also his individual characteristics, since the use of sprays in some children can cause nausea or laryngeal spasm.

  • With significant hyperthermia (above 38 degrees), it is necessary to use antipyretic drugs, children are shown the use of drugs based on paracetamol or ibuprofen (Panadol, Nurofen).

Also, the treatment of pharyngitis at home for children should be carried out in compliance with the general recommendations:

  • to prevent drying out of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, optimal climatic conditions in the room should be maintained: temperature not higher than 18-20 degrees, humidity at 50-70%;
  • to moisturize the nasopharyngeal mucosa and reduce the level of intoxication, it is necessary to consume a sufficient amount of liquid in the form of pure boiled water, compotes, juices, decoctions of medicinal herbs (sage, chamomile);
  • in order not to have an additional irritating effect on the throat, solid foods should be excluded, giving preference to liquid and mushy foods (soups, broths, liquid milk porridge, jelly)

Important! Any food and liquid used during the treatment should not be too cold or hot. It is also necessary to exclude spicy, salty and smoked foods.
