Goat fat for coughing in children: potions and rubbing

Traditional methods of treating coughs are often more effective than traditional medicines. But this is only at the initial stage of the disease and with a cold, when the cough is of a non-infectious nature. Although, as ancillary treatments, they are effective even for serious illnesses such as bronchitis and pneumonia. One of the most popular remedies is goat cough oil.

Beneficial features

Medicinal properties are possessed not only by goat, but also by almost any other animal fat. The most valuable are the badger, goose, seal, bear, whale. But if more exotic varieties of fat are difficult to get and they are expensive, then goose and goat are always at hand. Goat fat differs from goose fat by a lower melting point and hypoallergenicity.

And goats do not get cancer, there are no larvae of worms and parasites in their fat. We can say that goat fat is one of the cleanest and safest home remedies.

The healing properties of goat fat are due to its composition, which includes the most important vitamins for humans: A, C, D, E; essential minerals: copper, zinc, iron, manganese, phosphorus and unsaturated fatty acids. It is almost completely and very quickly absorbed by the body, and when applied to the skin, it forms a thin protective film, moisturizing and softening it.

Goat fat has a complex therapeutic effect on the body and gives the following effects:

  • accelerates metabolic processes;
  • strengthens the immune system;
  • provides an energy boost;
  • accelerates recovery;
  • activates regeneration processes;
  • makes it easier to cough up;
  • eliminates irritation.

When used correctly, goat fat can cure even a severe cough in chronic bronchitis in just a few days. It can be used as a stand-alone remedy or in combination with traditional medicines.

The best recipes

Goat fat can be used both internally and externally to treat coughs. You can buy it on the market or at a regular pharmacy (preserved).

When choosing goat fat on the market, be careful. It should be milky white, uniform in consistency, without a pungent odor. If you take a small piece and rub it between your fingers, it will melt, become completely transparent and form a thin film on the skin.

  1. Milkshake with yolk. It is able to significantly alleviate the condition even with pneumonia. For its preparation you will need: honey, goat fat - 1 tsp each, a glass of milk and a chicken egg. Boil milk, throw goat fat into it. Carefully separate the yolk from the protein and beat with honey until a whitish foam. When the milk cools down to a temperature of about 40-50 0C, pour in the whipped yolk, stirring constantly, and drink in small sips, it is better to lie in bed. The cocktail perfectly warms up the throat, eliminates perspiration, makes breathing and coughing up easier. Drink for a week.
  2. Garlic mixture. Suitable for older children from 6-7 years old. Copes well with bronchitis, sore throat, pharyngitis and colds. Crush a clove of garlic until gruel and pour in half a glass of hot milk, strain immediately. Melt a tablespoon of fat and pour into the garlic milk. Give the child a drink while lying in bed. It is enough to apply the tool once a day at night. The cough becomes less for 2-3 days. In addition to antitussive, this mixture also has an excellent tonic effect, since garlic is an excellent natural immunomodulator.
  3. Rubbing with propolis. Effectively warms, promotes the expansion of the bronchi, facilitates breathing and coughing. It can be used for children from 2 years of age. First you need to prepare an ointment: melt 100 grams of goat fat in a water bath, and then pour two tablespoons of propolis alcohol tincture into it. To enhance the effect, you can add 10-15 drops of essential oil to the mixture: fir, cedar, thuja, menthol, lavender. Remove the mixture from heat and while it cools, beat constantly with a wooden or plastic spatula. Lubricate the baby's chest, back and feet. Then put on a cotton T-shirt, woolen socks and cover with a blanket. Make sure that the baby does not overheat. Repeat no more than every other day.
  4. Honey compress. Good for deep dry coughs. Facilitates sputum discharge, relieves inflammation, accelerates recovery. The cough compress mixture is very easy to make. Melt some goat fat in a water bath. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Add the same amount of honey and mix well. Place the mixture on parchment paper and apply to the baby's chest, avoiding the heart area. In case of pneumonia, put the same compress on the back. Insulate with a terry towel and wrap the child warmly. The compress can be left on for 2-3 hours. Repeat 3-5 times every other day.
  5. Herbal ointment. On the basis of goat fat, you can prepare an effective cough ointment based on herbal extracts and camphor oil. To do this, you first need to prepare a concentrated decoction of sage, coltsfoot, St. John's wort, chamomile or calendula. Pour two tablespoons of herbs with a glass of boiling water and leave in a thermos for 12 hours. Strain the broth. Take 100 grams of goat fat and melt in a water bath. Pour a tablespoon of camphor oil into it and remove from heat. Beat the cooling mixture with a wooden or plastic spatula, and when it begins to thicken, gradually add herbal decoction until the consistency of the ointment begins to resemble a soufflé. The ointment simultaneously warms and creates an inhalation effect. Use within a week before bed.

Specific features

Goat fat is an environmentally friendly and completely natural product. It is absolutely safe even for small children, so it can be used for rubbing babies. But this should be done only under the watchful supervision of mom.

Goat fat is able to provide deep warming, and the thermoregulation system in infants is not yet fully formed. Therefore, the use of goat fat in children under 2 years of age at elevated body temperature is categorically contraindicated.

There is no allergy to this product. But you need to take into account the possibility of its manifestation as a reaction to other components that are part of your chosen recipe. Store goat fat in the refrigerator, in a tightly closed glass container. If the fat has changed color or an unpleasant rancid odor develops, it cannot be used. The shelf life of the prepared rubbing ointments is only a few days.

The course of treatment is 5 to 14 days. Significant relief usually occurs already on day 2-3: the cough becomes softer, phlegm begins to actively pass, the sore throat subsides, and redness goes away.

If the cough has not gone away in two weeks, then it is better to consult a pediatrician to avoid possible complications. With the wrong treatment, respiratory diseases quickly become chronic and then it is much more difficult to cure them.
