Honey and lemon for cough

  • do not melt honey, but only melt in a water bath;

Cooking methods

  • Recipe number 1. Take 500 g of lemons and 250-300 g of natural honey. Before preparing the cough remedy, rinse the lemons thoroughly, it is better not to peel the peel. Then cut the lemons into 4 parts and grind in a blender or meat grinder until smooth. The resulting mixture is poured with honey, mixed and placed in a sterile jar. It must be tightly closed and refrigerated. A cough medicine can be stored in a cold place for a long time. For prophylaxis, the mixture is added to tea, and when coughing, take 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day. It tastes very good.
  • Recipe number 2. For this product, you need to take 1 kg of medium-sized lemons, preferably with a thin peel and 500-600 grams of honey. The fruit is washed well and cut into thin slices. It is better not to peel the peel, as it is rich in essential oils, which allows you to quickly get rid of coughs and colds. Place the honey in a small enamel pot and place it in a water bath. Warm up for about 5 minutes, then lower the lemons and, stirring constantly, leave in a water bath for 10-15 minutes. Grind the lemon as thoroughly as possible while stirring to keep the amount of hard pieces to a minimum. After the honey and lemon have cooled down a little, they are poured into a pre-sterilized jar, tightly closed with a lid and placed in the refrigerator. For a cough, such a mixture should be taken 2 teaspoons 2-3 times a day.

How to take the honey-lemon mixture correctly

There is a standard scheme for the use of such a medicine. So, for adults in the absence of an allergic reaction to the components, it is recommended to take 1 tablespoon at least 2 times a day. With a dry cough, the intake is allowed to be increased up to 3-4 times. For children, the dose is reduced to 1 teaspoon 2 times a day. It is better to take it after meals to avoid acidity increase.

As a preventive measure, honey with lemon can be consumed daily, adding to warm (necessarily not hot) tea or water. However, if you have gastrointestinal diseases, in particular ulcerative in nature, then this type of folk medicine may be contraindicated. Before starting treatment, be sure to consult your doctor.

Contraindications

Like any other medicine, honey and lemon also have their own contraindications. It is not recommended to consume the honey-lemon mixture:

  • patients with gastritis with high acidity, gastrointestinal ulcers and prone to frequent manifestations of heartburn;
  • with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in their acute form or in the stage of exacerbation;
  • if you are allergic to honey or lemon;
  • when diagnosing pathologies of the pancreas and kidneys.

If you notice that after consuming such a mixture there is a burning sensation in the esophagus, intestines - immediately stop taking the drug.

Many patients claim that when coughing, you can add this remedy to tea and drink it 5-6 times a day. After that, after a couple of days, the best sputum discharge is observed, and on day 4-5 the cough stops altogether.

Lemon and honey for coughing during pregnancy
