Cough

Pine buds are an effective and natural remedy for coughs

Most of the hospitals and sanatoriums that provide treatment and rehabilitation after severe respiratory diseases are located in or near coniferous forests. Evergreen trees secrete resins and essential oils that have healing properties. Inhaling such air is already an effective therapy. Pine cough buds are used when the disease affects the upper or lower respiratory tract. Inflorescences are used for the preparation of infusions, decoctions, mixtures and inhalations.

Healing properties of the kidneys

Pine has a pronounced, thick, tart aroma due to tannins and essential oils that it contains. Almost all parts of this tree are used to treat coughs: bark, needles and, of course, kidneys are used. Small freshly harvested inflorescences have a special strength, thanks to which it is possible to very quickly and effectively alleviate the patient's condition.

The composition of the kidneys includes the following useful substances:

  • vitamins of group B, C, A;
  • tannins and essential oils;
  • phytoncides;
  • saponins;
  • acids;
  • starch;
  • alkaloids.

This natural healing "cocktail" has an amazing effect on the body. It promotes cell regeneration, kills viruses and bacteria, has an antiseptic effect, and improves immunity. The main benefit of the plant is that its buds stimulate the ciliated epithelium of the respiratory tract, enhancing and improving coughing. Regular use of products made from this natural product will help break up phlegm and remove it very gently.

Interesting to know! Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is found in pine buds in very large quantities. Just imagine, 100 ml of a decoction of this plant has 10 times more of it than 100 ml of fresh lemon.

Where to get raw materials for drugs

Before making a natural cough medicine, you need to find the right pine buds. They are sold in the pharmacy in dried form, this is the easiest way to extract raw materials. If you don't trust pharmacists, you can prepare the product yourself. To do this, find a forest that is away from the highway. So it will be possible to protect yourself from the ingress of chemicals into the body along with the phytopreparation.

Pine buds are harvested in spring. It is at this time of the year that bright and juicy green inflorescences appear on the trees. At the beginning of the season, they contain the largest amount of resins and essential oils. Sticky "pimples" can be torn off with your hands, cut with scissors or pruning shears, but be prepared for the fact that you still get dirty with resin.

Spread the finished product on a clean cloth in one layer and leave in a well-ventilated area. It is important that direct sunlight does not fall on the raw material, otherwise all useful substances will simply evaporate from it. Also, do not use an oven, microwave or electric drier, as it is impossible to preserve all the valuable properties of the plant in them.

From time to time, the inflorescences need to be turned over, they dry for about 20 days. Readiness is checked by breaking the kidneys: if they are dry inside, then the raw materials can be used.

Preparing useful medicines

  1. Cough syrup. To prepare this product, you need exclusively fresh pine buds, since we will extract healing juice from them. We take inflorescences, pass through a meat grinder. We put the resulting product in a 3 liter jar, add 1.5 cups of honey. If you are allergic to beekeeping products, replace it with granulated sugar. We insist the mixture in a dark place under the lid until the syrup begins to acquire a brown tint. Strain the medicine several times through cheesecloth or a fine sieve, squeeze the juice from the cake into it, store it in a cool place. Take 1 teaspoon 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day. The syrup can be added to tea or medicinal teas.
  2. Infusion with milk. Pine buds from dry cough will need dried ones for this recipe. We take a tablespoon of raw materials and fill it with a glass of hot milk. Let it brew for 20-30 minutes, filter well. You need to take the remedy 1 tablespoon 3 times a day half an hour before meals.
  3. "Honey" from pine buds. Such a cough suppressant for children will be ideal: since it tastes good enough, the child will take it without whims. Fresh buds should be poured with water at room temperature and allowed to brew for 6 hours. After that, we move the mixture onto the stove and cook over low heat for half an hour. Next, carefully filter the broth, remove the inflorescences from it. Add water to reach the original volume, add sugar and cook for another quarter of an hour. Before turning off the stove, add ¼ teaspoon of lemon juice to the "honey" so that it does not thicken. Mixing ratio: for 1 liter of water, 1 kg of kidneys and 1.5 kg of sugar.
  4. Vodka tincture. To prepare the tincture, you need to take 75 g of pine buds and fill them with a bottle of vodka, insist in a dark place for 14 days. This will be the first component of the remedy. We will prepare the second part from 75 g of inflorescences, juice of one lemon, one glass of water and one glass of liquid natural honey. We combine all the ingredients and mix thoroughly, also leave to infuse for 14 days, periodically the mixture needs to be stirred. After two weeks, we filter both parts of the infusion well, pour them into a jar and put them in the refrigerator for 1 month. We take the finished product 1 tablespoon 3 times a day before meals.

Other methods of application

It is possible to prepare medicinal decoctions not only from pine buds. To enhance the effect, they are mixed with other medicinal herbs, for example, plantain, coltsfoot. For diseases of the upper respiratory tract, it is useful to gargle with inflorescence-based products. These preparations should be water-based, not alcohol-based.

Pine bud inhalation will help enhance the effects of oral medications. For their implementation, you can use both fresh and dried raw materials. Inhalation of vapors through the mouth and nose will help completely disinfect the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. It is better to do the procedure at night, wrapped tightly in a blanket.

How not to harm yourself?

Medicines from pine buds have practically no contraindications. The natural product does not cause negative reactions, it does not contain harmful substances that can accumulate in the body over time. However, you should be careful with additives. Alcohol-containing products are completely contraindicated for children, expectant and lactating mothers. Honey, lemon and milk should not be added to the drug for people with individual intolerance to these products.

Inhalation with pine buds should not be done in the midst of an illness, when the body temperature is elevated. Treatments should be performed when the fever subsides.

Also, do not forget that even the most effective folk remedies cannot cope with severe respiratory diseases on their own. They are recommended to be used only as an adjunct to medication after consulting a doctor.

In conclusion

Treating cough with pine buds is very useful and effective. Thanks to the variety of recipes, you can choose the most suitable product for both adults and children. The inflorescences themselves have no contraindications for use, but when mixed with other medicinal products, they can be dangerous for some people. Be careful with the treatment of the respiratory tract and choose only safe therapies.
