Application methods

For the treatment with propolis, you can purchase a ready-made tincture or prepare the drug yourself, using natural ingredients for this. There are many different ways to prepare products that include propolis. Let's figure out how to treat a throat with propolis.

  1. It's easier to buy a ready-made product and use it for rinsing. To do this, prepare a solution at the rate of 5-10 g of the product per 200 ml of warm boiled water. The duration of the procedure is about two minutes, the number of repetitions is up to six times a day.
  2. One popular treatment option is to use a small piece of natural propolis, which is similar to chewing gum. It takes about five to ten minutes to chew propolis. To achieve the maximum therapeutic result, the treatment must be repeated every three hours. Chewing propolis will also be useful for those who suffer from stomatitis and gum disease.
  3. There is another recipe that uses propolis tincture. A few drops of the drug are dripped onto a piece of sugar and the resulting lollipop is sucked. The procedure is repeated twice a day until the symptoms disappear completely.
  4. An effective remedy for the treatment of throat diseases is a mixture of propolis tincture and peach oil, which relieves perspiration and dryness in the nasopharynx, reduces irritation. To prepare the product, take one part of the pharmacy propolis tincture and two parts of peach oil. The resulting solution is used to treat the nasopharyngeal mucosa every day for ten days. You can use not only peach oil, but also glycerin, sea buckthorn or rosehip oil.

To do this, prepare a solution at the rate of 5 ml of the product for half a glass of water. Take a quarter of a glass three times a day for five days.

Part of the substance precipitates, which is collected and dried. Then add ethyl alcohol at the rate of 30 g of product per 100 ml of alcohol. After that, the mixture is kept in a cool dark place for a week, stirring occasionally with shaking. Strain and use for rinsing similarly to a pharmacy tincture.

Propolis in pediatrics and for pregnant women

Due to their natural origin, propolis-based products can also be used for children. The only limitation is the ability of children to gargle or chew propolis, as well as individual intolerance to the substance.

The use of alcoholic tinctures also has contraindications in childhood, however, in case of urgent need, it is permissible to prepare a rinse solution using a few drops of the product in a glass of water. It is preferable for children to use an aqueous solution of propolis prepared by hand. To do this, take 20 g of the crushed substance in a glass of warm water. The resulting solution must be boiled in a water bath for fifteen minutes or left in a thermos overnight.

During pregnancy, it is necessary to use any means with caution, including propolis, so it is better to consult a doctor before starting treatment. However, in the overwhelming majority of cases, the use of throat treatment solutions based on this substance is indicated even during pregnancy. As in the situation with children, in this case it is better to refuse the use of alcoholic tinctures, preferring water-based analogs.

Thus, propolis for sore throat is widely used, because it can be used as ointment for tonsils, gargle and drinking solution for both adults and children.
