Throat treatment

How to gargle with apple cider vinegar

The inflammatory process and pain in the throat are present in many pathological conditions, worsening the patient's condition.

Treatment methods depend on the cause of the development of the inflammatory process, its nature, intensity. Among the applied therapeutic measures:

  • the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • antibiotic therapy;
  • topical preparations;
  • gargling;
  • measures aimed at increasing immunity;
  • the use of traditional medicine.

Gargling with apple cider vinegar refers specifically to unconventional methods of treating the inflammatory process in the throat.

Indications for the procedure

This method of treatment is most often used for infectious conditions caused by exposure to a viral and bacterial pathogen:

  • ARVI;
  • tonsillitis;
  • pharyngitis;
  • laryngitis;
  • tracheitis.

In these cases, the course of the disease is accompanied by pain in the throat, which increases with swallowing, can be characterized as scratching, perspiration. In acute and chronic tonsillitis, pain radiates to the ear.

The local procedures used have some advantages over oral medication in terms of safety and availability. The drugs used when rinsing do not enter the bloodstream, therefore, do not have a systemic effect, and can be used without restrictions in patients with concomitant severe pathologies during pregnancy.

The disadvantages of local procedures include low efficiency. These measures should not be monotherapy in the treatment of diseases. The desired effect can be obtained only with complex treatment. This is especially important when it comes to diseases caused by a bacterial pathogen.

Apple cider vinegar is used as a gargle due to the fact that it creates an acidic environment in the throat cavity. It is these conditions that turn out to be detrimental to the bacterial pathogen caused by staphylococcus or streptococcus. In the case of ARVI and other diseases caused by viruses, the use of this agent is due to preventive actions. The use of acidic solutions for gargling the throat is a reliable prevention of secondary bacterial infection.

Description of the method

You can gargle with apple cider vinegar using the following methods:

  1. One tablespoon of the product is stirred in a glass of boiled or purified water at a temperature of 40 degrees. Rinsing is carried out between meals, 3-4 times a day;
  2. Apple cider vinegar in the volume of a teaspoon is stirred in a glass of water, and one teaspoon of table salt is added here;
  3. Instead of boiled water, freshly squeezed beet juice is used. To do this, a medium-sized root crop is grated. After 15-20 minutes, when the juice drains, it is necessary to squeeze out the pulp, and pour the liquid into a glass. Warm purified water is added to the resulting juice to make a full glass of solution. One tablespoon of vinegar is also poured here and stirred.

There are also recipes that replace beets with raw carrots. The rest of the steps for using apple cider vinegar are similar. The use of these products for the preparation of a solution is due to the presence of vitamins and microelements in their composition, which contributes to an increase in the body's resistance.

Some traditional healers advise adding a teaspoon of honey to a solution with vinegar, given its healing, immunostimulating effects. However, there is a controversial point in this technique, since the sweet environment promotes the active growth of pathogenic bacteria. At the same time, adding crushed heated propolis is free from this drawback. Given the unique qualities of beekeeping products, this component can be beneficial.

Regardless of the chosen recipe for the procedure, the concentration of vinegar should not exceed the recommended one.

Contraindications

In addition, there are some contraindications to using apple cider vinegar to gargle. They are due to the fact that during the procedure, the possibility of swallowing a certain amount of solution inside is not excluded. Conditions in which the procedure is dangerous:

  • diseases of the stomach and duodenum, accompanied by high acidity;
  • inflammatory processes of the kidneys and urinary tract (cystitis, pyelonephritis);
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • diseases accompanied by impaired salt metabolism;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • the child's age of the patient;
  • individual intolerance to this drug;
  • caries and other pathology of the mucous membrane of the mouth and gums.

When using vinegar to gargle the throat, there is also a danger that this remedy is not pharmacy. It can only be purchased in grocery departments or prepared at home. However, self-cooking will take several weeks. As for the finished product, it may contain preservatives, flavorings. This makes it unsafe for patients with allergic conditions. The followers of traditional medicine focus precisely on the use of a natural product.

The use of apple cider vinegar as a topical treatment has found widespread acceptance among patients. They notice an improvement in their condition already 2-3 days after the start of the procedure. Traditional medicine experts are dubious about such a statement.

Otolaryngologists and therapists believe that this procedure has no effect on the healing process.

Improvement in the condition is due to the patient's immunity, the life cycle of pathogens.
