Angina

Throat treatment for angina

Local therapy is one of the most effective directions in the treatment of catarrhal and purulent processes in the throat. A high concentration of drugs on the surface of the mucous membranes of the throat accelerates the regression of pathological processes.

To eliminate angina and clinical manifestations of the disease, it is necessary to systematically treat lymphadenoid formations with antimicrobial and antiviral drugs. The main advantage of local treatment is the absence of toxic reactions provoked by the components of medications. External treatment of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx excludes the possibility of drug penetration into the systemic circulation. Competent conduct of therapy provides a high concentration of active drug components directly in the foci of inflammation, as a result of which the process of destruction of pathogenic flora is accelerated.

Feature of the procedure

Lubrication of the mucous throat is more effective than rinsing, which is due to the hydrophobicity of the drugs used. As a rule, the treatment of inflamed tonsils is carried out using oil solutions with therapeutic properties. After the procedure, hydrophobic drugs remain on the surface of the mucous membrane for 20-30 minutes, which speeds up the healing process of the affected tissues.

Tonsillitis is an infectious pathology that affects the tissues of the lymphatic pharyngeal ring. In other words, the foci of inflammation are localized in the tonsils, on the back of the throat and palatine arches. Regular treatment of these areas with antiseptic drugs accelerates the process of killing pathogens, which leads to an increase in local immunity.

Sanitation of the oropharynx with hydrophobic solutions promotes the formation of a protective film on the surface of the throat, which prevents the penetration of pathogens into the tissues. Due to the absence of adverse reactions, the procedure can be carried out for preschool children.

Features of cleansing tonsils

How to clear a child's throat with angina? Direct squeezing of purulent contents from the crypts of the palatine tonsils can provoke the development of a pharyngeal abscess. It should be understood that hyperthermia in tonsillitis occurs due to inflammatory processes in the lymphadenoid formations, and not the presence of purulent exudate. It is undesirable to perform the debridement of the affected tissues without an accurate diagnosis. The fact is that purulent plugs in the lacunae of the tonsils can easily be confused with fibrous deposits that appear with angina of viral etiology. Treatment of a viral infection with antimicrobial drugs will be ineffective and will only provoke a decrease in immunity.

Important! It is impossible to squeeze out abscesses at the stage of acute inflammation of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx in order to prevent the penetration of pus deep into the tissues.

Timely treatment of bacterial tonsillitis with systemic antibiotics ensures regression of inflammation in the ciliated epithelium. At the stage of resolution of catarrhal processes, subfebrile fever completely disappears. To speed up the evacuation of purulent plugs in the tonsil follicles, it is advisable to use antiseptic, decongestant and analgesic drugs. They soften pathological deposits, as a result of which the lymphadenoid formations are cleared of pus.

Rehabilitation of glands

Correct implementation of sanitizing procedures ensures the elimination of pathogens and abscesses from the mucous membrane of the oropharynx. The treatment of the affected tissues is performed using sterile gauze wound around the index finger or a special spatula. To achieve the desired therapeutic results, the following parts of the oropharynx should be lubricated with gauze soaked in the medicine:

  • laryngeal mucosa;
  • the back of the throat;
  • palatine tonsils;
  • oropharyngeal tongue;
  • palatine arches of the tonsils.

When sanitizing the throat with cotton, cotton fibers may remain on the tonsils, which is fraught with exacerbation of catarrhal processes.

How to smear a throat with a sore throat? To exclude the likelihood of mechanical injury, the following features should be taken into account in the treatment of children:

  1. sit the child in front of you;
  2. take a spatula with gauze dipped in the medicine in your right hand;
  3. holding a teaspoon in your left hand, press the root of the tongue to the bottom of the mouth;
  4. with confident (not sharp) movements, treat the tonsils and throat mucosa with the medicine.

Not all children respond to the procedure in the same way, which should be considered. If a pronounced gag reflex occurs, it is advisable to replace the cleaning of the tonsils with rinsing. In order to prolong the therapeutic effect of the drug, it is advisable not to let the child eat or drink for 20 minutes after throat debridement.

Medication

What drugs should be used for sanitizing procedures? The child's body is susceptible to allergic reactions, therefore, for therapeutic purposes, it is better to use only those medicines that contain natural ingredients. Medicinal solutions should have pronounced medicinal properties, namely:

  • bacteriostatic;
  • antiviral;
  • pain relievers;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • wound healing;
  • decongestants;
  • immunostimulating.

Some of the medications are recommended for use at the stage of acute inflammation, others - when resolving catarrhal processes. Ignoring these features can lead to poor health. For example, preparations with a high iodine content have a local irritating effect. When processing hyperemic tissues, they provoke even more irritation of the mucous membrane, which is fraught with burns.

Important! You can not use iodine-containing preparations for the rehabilitation of the oropharynx in children under the age of 3 years.

The drug "Ingalipt"

Ingalipt is a broad-spectrum sulfanilamide drug that helps to eliminate catarrhal processes in the ENT organs. It contains components with disinfecting and antiphlogistic properties, which makes it possible to use the solution for the treatment of tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis and other pathologies of the upper respiratory tract.

The main components of the therapeutic action include:

  • streptocide - destroys the cellular structures of bacteria, which leads to their death;
  • mint essential oil - envelops the mucous membrane, eliminating inflammation;
  • sulfathiazole - interferes with the replication of DNA and RNA of pathogens, due to which their number in the foci of inflammation decreases;
  • thymol - disinfects the mucous membrane, as a result of which the epithelialization of tissues is accelerated;
  • glycerol - softens purulent plugs in the lacunae of the tonsils, which contributes to their evacuation.

Do not use "Ingalipt" for the treatment of tonsillitis in children under the age of 3-4 years.

The drug is available in the form of a spray and oily solution for the treatment of tonsils. Spraying an aerosol can provoke a reflex spasm, which is fraught with severe laryngeal edema. For this reason, it is undesirable to treat the throat with a spray in children under 5-6 years old.

The drug "Chlorophyllipt"

"Chlorophyllipt" is a phytopreparation based on myrtle and eucalyptus extract, which has pronounced bactericidal and antiseptic properties. The oil solution can be used as a drug of etiotropic action at the initial stage of development of bacterial sore throat.Regular treatment of the mucous membrane with "Chlorophyllipt" increases the concentration of oxygen in the tissues, which stimulates cellular immunity.

How to properly treat phytopreparations? In pediatric therapy, a 2% oil solution is used to cleanse the oropharynx from pathogenic flora. It does not contain alcohol, which reduces the risk of allergic reactions. An immunostimulating agent is used to treat tonsillitis of almost any etiology.

The effectiveness of "Chlorophyllipt" is due to the following properties:

  • antihypoxic;
  • bactericidal;
  • decongestants;
  • immunostimulating;
  • bacteriostatic.

The active components of the oil solution have a detrimental effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial flora. Regular use of the drug guarantees the elimination of purulent plugs in the lacunae of the tonsils and regression of inflammatory reactions in the ciliated epithelium. It can be used to treat not only preschool children, but also newborns.

Iodine preparations

At the stage of resolving catarrhal processes, iodine-based preparations can be used to sanitize the throat. Antiseptics are active against not only microbes, but also pathogenic fungi. Their use significantly reduces the risk of developing candidal inflammation due to a decrease in immunity after an illness.

Before treating the throat with an iodine-containing solution, it is advisable to consult a pediatrician. Iodine contributes to irritation of the mucous membrane and blockage of the lacunae of the tonsils. In the presence of inflammation in the lymphadenoid formations, there is a risk of penetration of purulent exudate deep into the tissues, which is fraught with abscess.

Some of the most popular iodine-based preparations include:

  1. "Lugol" - a local antiseptic with fungicidal and bactericidal action, destroying bacterial and fungal flora in the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract; helps to eliminate puffiness and the formation of a protective film in the treated areas;
  2. "Yoks" - a combined preparation of bacteriostatic and immunostimulating action; stimulates the activity of excretory cells in the ciliated epithelium, which accelerates the process of discharge of pathological mucus and purulent exudate from inflamed tonsils;
  3. "Iodinol" is an antimicrobial solution that accelerates the resolution of purulent processes in the affected tissues due to impaired reproductive function of pathogens; used in the treatment of acute and chronic tonsillitis.

Throat treatment with iodine-containing preparations can be carried out no more than 2 times a day.

Other drugs

Local therapy of ENT diseases should be carried out only as directed by a specialist. Irrational use of medications can provoke a decrease in immunity and the progression of inflammatory reactions. It is undesirable to use medicines that contain antibiotics for more than 7-10 days in a row.

To eliminate the local manifestations of tonsillitis, you can use the following drugs to treat the tonsils:

  • Octenisept is a broad-spectrum antiseptic that suppresses bacterial and viral flora; used to treat tonsillitis of any etiology;
  • "Furacilin" is an antimicrobial solution that is used to stop purulent-inflammatory reactions in the ciliated epithelium;
  • Tantum Verde is a non-steroidal antiphlogistic drug that inhibits the synthesis of cyclooxygenase; accelerates the resolution of catarrhal processes, which helps to eliminate infiltrates in the mucous membrane of the throat.

Do not use antiseptic solutions without the recommendation of a pediatrician in case of renal failure. Hypersensitivity to synthetic components of drugs, such as nitrofuran, can lead to dysfunction of the detoxification organs.
