Folk remedies for the treatment of adenoiditis in a child

Adenoids are hyperplastic lymphoid tissue in the nasopharynx area, the proliferation of which is due to many factors (acute, prolonged infectious diseases, polluted, dry, cold air). In most cases, adenoids are initially diagnosed up to 8 years of age; in an older period, the disease is recorded much less often.

Treatment of adenoids in children with folk remedies has a good result, but treatment should be started as soon as pathology is detected.

To achieve the maximum therapeutic effect, it is recommended to combine home recipes with traditional therapies prescribed by your doctor.

The protective ring formed from lymphoid formations refers to the immune structure.

In the complex, the tonsils of the nasopharynx and oropharynx help to resist the infection of the body by pathogenic microbes.

Due to frequent attacks of viruses, bacteria, in an unfavorable environment, a tendency to allergic reactions, as well as a genetic predisposition, the tonsils undergo hypertrophy to increase the area of struggle against provoking factors. The pharyngeal tonsil, as it grows, leads to the appearance of some clinical signs:

  • Difficulty nasal breathing;
  • prolonged periods of recovery after colds;
  • chronic infectious and inflammatory pathologies of the nasal, oropharynx (pharyngitis, sinusitis);
  • snore;
  • vocal nasalness;
  • weakness;
  • lack of sleep;
  • moodiness, irritability, apathy.

With adenoids, their inflammation is often diagnosed - adenoiditis, which is accompanied by subfebrile condition, sometimes by febrile hyperthermia.

The surgical method of treatment is chosen upon reaching the 2nd degree of hypertrophy of the tonsils, as well as frequent complications (adenoiditis, otitis media, apnea). At the first stage of the disease, it is quite effective to use folk remedies for adenoids. The healing properties of traditional medicines are aimed at:

  • elimination of nasal congestion;
  • reducing the swelling of lymphoid tissue;
  • combating infectious agents that support chronic inflammation;
  • a decrease in the frequency of inflammation of the tonsils;
  • prevention of disease progression;
  • strengthening of immune defenses.

Using proven folk remedies, it is possible to prevent tonsil hyperplasia.

The lymphoid tissue will increase according to the child's age without causing symptoms or complications. Upon reaching the age of 12, the pharyngeal tonsil undergoes sclerotic changes, so the problem of adenoids disappears.

Treatment tactics

Alternative treatment of adenoids in children provides for complex therapy using agents for washing the nasal passages, nasal instillation, external applications on the area of the wings of the nose and paranasal sinuses.

With the development of adenoiditis, the temperature rises, bacterial pathogens multiply, which requires the appointment of antibiotic therapy to suppress the spread of the infection throughout the body.

In order to achieve a good result in treatment, it is necessary to follow the rules for washing. The procedure is best done in the bathroom. For this:

  1. a solution for washing should be prepared, heated to room temperature, drawn into a syringe;
  2. the child needs to bend over the sink or bathtub and open his mouth. This will prevent choking and swallowing the solution when it enters the mouth from the nose. During the procedure, it is not allowed to raise the head, which will ensure an easy flow of fluid along the tongue outward;
  3. first, the solution from the syringe must be fed with a weak stream into the nasal passage so that the child gets used to it and is afraid;
  4. then the jet is intensified to provide a flushing effect;
  5. the procedure is repeated with the second nasal passage. After washing, the child feels relief of nasal breathing, since the mucus clots do not block the airways. During the procedure, up to 200 ml of solution is usually consumed.

After washing, you can offer the child an additional "blowing his nose", which will finally clear the nasal cavities.

Flushing is performed to facilitate nasal breathing, as well as before instilling drugs into the nasal passages. This makes it possible for the drug to penetrate directly to the pathological focus and provide the maximum therapeutic effect.

Washing is a problem with young children. In this case, you can use saline solutions, for example, Aqua Maris (for babies), after the instillation of which the mucus is removed using a rubber can.

Folk recipes

How to cure adenoids at home? Treatment with folk remedies is carried out at all stages of the disease, even if there are indications for surgery, which is postponed for some reason.

To avoid worsening of the condition, you should first consult with your doctor about the use of traditional medicines.

The course of therapy is usually repeated twice a year after examining the child. Especially careful treatment should be carried out with herbal remedies for children prone to allergic reactions and with bronchial asthma.

The most effective remedy is considered aloe for adenoids in children. For medicinal purposes, the juice of a plant is used, which has antimicrobial, anti-edema and resorption effects, therefore aloe is used for inflammation of the tonsil or during periods of remission to reduce its size. Aloe is used pure and diluted:

  • for rinsing the nose before instilling with aloe juice, the use of Humer, No-salt is shown, which allows it to have a healing effect on the cleansed mucous membrane. To get juice, it is enough to peel a piece of aloe leaf and squeeze the juice through several layers of gauze. 5 drops are instilled into the nose once a day. The duration of the course reaches 45-55 days;
  • to rinse the nasal passages directly with aloe solution, dilute the juice with warm water (1: 3). The procedure is repeated twice a day for two weeks.

Adenoids in children can be treated with sea buckthorn oil. It is widely used in the treatment of otolaryngological diseases. The healing effect is achieved by strengthening the vascular wall, reducing swelling, mucus production and reducing the growth of lymphoid tissue. There are two recipes for using sea buckthorn oil:

  • in its pure form, you can instill 3 drops twice a day in the nasal passages. It is especially important to instill before going to bed on a cleansed mucous membrane. The duration of therapy is 20 days;
  • in acute adenoiditis, when the mucous membrane becomes hyperemic, sometimes has a scarlet hue, it is recommended to use a mixture of sea buckthorn oil with garlic juice. For preparation, mix 5 ml of oil with three drops of juice. Instillation of 2 drops is carried out three times a day.

Propolis has long been used in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases, as well as to strengthen the immune system. There are two ways to treat adenoids with propolis:

  • 2 g of soda and 20 drops of propolis tincture should be dissolved in 250 ml of warm water. The prepared solution can be used to rinse the nasal passages three times a day using a syringe (without a needle) or a syringe;
  • 50 ml of butter must be mixed with 5 ml of propolis and heated in a water bath for a quarter of an hour. As soon as the mixture cools down, you need to lubricate the nasal mucosa twice a day for a month. For cooking, you can use vegetable oil.

Propolis can be used in children only if there is no allergy to bee products.

Eucalyptus oil avoids surgery. The alternation of oils is especially useful, for example, at first it is recommended to instill 3 drops of eucalyptus oil, then sea buckthorn oil, after which you can switch to tea tree or cedar oil. The duration of each course is 12 days.

Treatment features

The use of a blue lamp is indicated for providing a thermal effect in adenoids. We emphasize that such an infrared light emitter is prohibited in the acute stage of inflammation of the adenoids. As part of complex therapy, the Minin lamp is used for 10 minutes twice a day. To carry out the procedure, you should bring the lamp at a distance of 20 cm to the nose, which will provide a thermal effect without thermal damage to the skin. In this case, the eyes must be closed with a bandage.

Methods for treating adenoids provide a good effect if the following recommendations are followed:

  • the child needs to regularly walk in the fresh air, dressing "according to the weather";
  • avoid general hypothermia (getting wet in the rain);
  • prevent contact with sick people with ARVI, flu or measles;
  • sports activities are desirable (swimming pool, gymnastics, cycling);
  • humidifying the air in the room, frequent wet cleaning and airing;
  • proper nutrition; full sleep.

It is especially useful for strengthening the immune system of a sanatorium-resort vacation in places with a mountain, sea or forest climate. By strengthening the immune system, children not only get rid of adenoids, but become more active and improve school performance.
