Angina

The benefits of beets for sore throat

Beetroot is a product that contains a large amount of amino acids, vitamins and minerals that have a beneficial effect on metabolic processes. Treatment of angina with beets helps to eliminate most of the local manifestations of the disease.

Throat sanitation with root vegetable-based solutions stimulates the regeneration of damaged tissues, as a result of which local immunity increases. The product practically does not cause side effects, therefore it can be used in pediatric therapy to treat throat. Beet juice can eliminate inflammation in the mucous membrane of the pharynx and palatine tonsils. This contributes to the elimination of hyperemia, swelling and discomfort in the oropharynx. It should be noted that beets from angina should be used in parallel with antibiotics and drugs of etiotropic action. This is the only way to accelerate the regression of pathological processes in the ENT organs.

Biochemical composition

Before using the recipe for preparing a medicinal solution, you should familiarize yourself with the biochemical composition of the root crop. The unique set of ingredients provided the vegetable with a wide range of therapeutic properties. Using a vegetable against tonsillitis, you can stop painful sensations in the throat within 3-4 days.

The composition of beets contains such useful substances as:

  • retinol;
  • thiamine;
  • folates;
  • lactoflavin;
  • pyridoxine;
  • tocopherol;
  • niacin;
  • vitamin C;
  • pantothenic acid;
  • calcium;
  • chlorine;
  • phosphorus;
  • sulfur;
  • iodine;
  • fluorine;
  • zinc.

Beet juice contains at least 10 essential amino acids that are involved in many biochemical processes.

The presence of carotenoids, organic acids and vitamin C provided the product with immunostimulating properties.

The systematic use of a vegetable against tonsillitis allows you to stop almost all local manifestations of pathology.

Efficiency

What are the therapeutic properties of beet juice? The product is used in alternative medicine for the treatment of colds accompanied by inflammation in the mucous membranes of the nose and oropharynx. But whatever prescription is used, it will be symptomatic. For this reason, local therapy of infectious diseases is always accompanied by the administration of systemic antibiotics and antiviral agents.

Can beetroot treat sore throat? The product has pronounced therapeutic properties, therefore it can be used as part of local therapy to arrest pathological processes in the ENT organs:

  • inhibits the activity of microbes;
  • relieves pain and inflammation;
  • accelerates blood circulation;
  • increases the elasticity of blood vessels;
  • accelerates tissue regeneration;
  • softens purulent plugs;
  • enhances local immunity.

Ascorbic acid takes part in redox processes, which promotes the absorption of iron and, accordingly, the activation of the immune system. Against the background of iron deficiency in the body, loosening of the ciliated epithelium is observed, which increases the risk of pathogens in the throat mucosa. In turn, essential amino acids and folates activate metabolic processes, which increases the body's reactivity.

Rinsing solutions

What recipe to use to prepare the medicinal solution? Sanitation of the oropharynx with beet juice accelerates the resorption of infiltrates in the mucous membrane and epithelialization of damaged tissues. You can relieve tonsillitis symptoms with the following rinsing solutions:

  1. mix root vegetable juice with water in equal proportions; add a small amount of onion juice to the liquid;
  2. grate the vegetable and pour 1 liter of boiling water over it; after 6 hours, strain the prepared infusion and add 3 tbsp. l. lemon juice;
  3. mix the beet and cranberry juice in equal proportions; dilute the solution with water in a 1: 1 ratio.

Whatever recipe for the preparation of the solution is used, before use it should be heated to a temperature of 37-38 degrees.

Beetroot with vinegar

Vinegar is an effective pain reliever and antimicrobial agent that is used to disinfect the oropharynx. They can treat inflammation of almost any etiology. However, it should be borne in mind that vinegar has a pronounced local irritating effect, therefore, it cannot be used in its pure form.

Beetroot with vinegar is an effective antiseptic, with which you can eliminate hyperemia of the mucous membrane, purulent exudate in the lacunae of the palatine tonsils, painful sensations when swallowing, etc.

What is the most effective prescription for the medicinal solution?

  • mix freshly squeezed beet juice with apple cider vinegar in a ratio of 1:10; pour 150 g of chopped root vegetable with ½ liter of boiling water;
  • mix the strained infusion with wine vinegar in a ratio of 5: 1;
  • Pour 1 tbsp into 150 ml of boiled water. beetroot juice, apple cider vinegar, and melted honey.

Medicines must be prepared immediately before use in order to preserve the maximum amount of nutrients in them.

When using vinegar for sore throats, remember about its irritating properties. It is undesirable to use vinegar solutions more than 3 times a day for 7 days.

Recommendations

Before treating inflammation in the oropharynx with folk remedies, you should find out the nuances of the procedure. Rinsing will be effective only if the medicinal solutions irrigate not only the mucous membrane of the pharynx, but also the palatine tonsils:

  • during the rehabilitation of the pharynx, you need to throw your head back;
  • when rinsing, it is advisable to pronounce vowels in order to improve the irrigation of the glands;
  • inflammation can only be treated with warm solutions prepared on the basis of mineral or boiled water;
  • the duration of one procedure should be at least 5-6 minutes;
  • to accelerate the regression of inflammation, perform the procedure 4-5 times a day.

The vinegar solution recipe cannot be used to eliminate the symptoms of sore throat in children under 10 years of age. Due to the hypersensitivity of the throat, there is a risk of an allergic reaction. Severe tissue edema will only worsen the patient's condition and provoke complications.

Compresses

Warming compresses are one of the most effective treatments for catarrhal sore throat. Warming up the inflamed tissues contributes to a local increase in temperature, as a result of which the concentration of neutrophils in the foci of inflammation increases. In other words, with angina, beets stimulate local immunity, which accelerates the process of destroying pathogenic flora in the mucous membranes of the ENT organs.

Important! You can not warm up the throat in the presence of purulent plaque on the tonsils and the back of the throat.

How to make compresses?

  • grate the boiled root vegetable, then squeeze the juice out of it using gauze;
  • wrap the beet cake in cheesecloth and apply to the throat area;
  • mix the grated beets and onion in equal proportions;
  • wrap the resulting mass with gauze and attach to the throat.

To enhance the warming effect of the compress, cover the gauze with polyethylene. It is advisable to carry out the procedure before bedtime in order to prolong the therapeutic effect of the compress.

Contraindications

Beet juice contains sugars and acids, which can provoke a deterioration in well-being when a medicinal solution enters the esophagus. For this reason, it is not recommended to use anti-tonsillitis juice in the form of rinsing in the presence of such diseases:

  • osteoporosis;
  • hypotension;
  • diabetes;
  • gastritis;
  • stones in the kidneys;
  • allergic diathesis.

You should refrain from using the vegetable for therapeutic purposes with increased acidity of the stomach, gout, rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. To prevent serious complications, it is better to consult a specialist before using beets.
